Online Mediation
Online mediation simply refers to mediation conducted remotely.
Online mediation is a method used to resolve disputes voluntarily by leveraging technology to streamline the process.
It allows parties to settle conflicts without needing to meet in person, making it more convenient. At AP Lawyers Family Mediation, we use Zoom or other related video conferencing platform to conduct our mediation sessions.
The parties can be together in a joint session or if shuttle/caucus mediation is preferred, the parties can be placed in separate virtual rooms and the mediator will meet with each party separately.
Online mediation allows parties located in different places to participate.
It takes away the need to commute to a location for mediation thereby saving the parties time. If one party for whatever reason is unable to meet in person, rather than delay settlement discussions, online mediation offers the perfect solution.
Online mediation may also be preferred if one party has concerns about being in the same physical location as the
other party.
Besides the additional convenience of attending mediation sessions remotely, all the benefits of traditional mediation sessions apply to online mediation such as:
- The parties have to be respectful
- They mediator will help facilitate an amicable settlement agreement
- It is cost-effective
- It is confidential
- It is helps you reach a settlement faster
- It is focused
- It cuts out all the procedural red tape of litigation
- You have control over the procedure and results
Online mediation allows parties to reach a settlement of their disputes remotely/virtually while still maintaining personalized communication between the parties involved.
